Delivery day is your choice, selected at checkout, and whoever answers your call knows exactly who is driving that route and roughly when they'll arrive.
We don't outsource the Silchester run to save time. It's about 9.6 miles and 20 to 31 minutes by road, covered by the same van and driver as everywhere else nearby.
If you're out when we deliver to Silchester, that's fine; the notes you leave at checkout tell our driver exactly where to leave everything, safely and out of the way.
Silchester shares its RG7 postcode district with Mortimer, Riseley and Swallowfield, a genuine local cluster rather than a scattered service area.
Prefer to collect rather than wait for Silchester delivery day? The yard at The Barn, Bagwell Lane, Winchfield RG27 8DB is open for free collection every Tuesday and Thursday, 1pm to 5pm, and we'll load your vehicle for you, no booking fuss beyond picking a slot.
Everything below ships to Silchester on the terms above: free over £150, a flat £15 otherwise, on the day you choose. Pick a ready-made bundle, or build your own bag order from scratch.
We get asked this by nearly every first-time Silchester customer: how many bags. The table below is the same rough guide our team gives over the phone.
A rough starting point, not a fixed rule. See our full how much firewood do I need guide for open fires, wood burners, fire pits and pizza ovens in more detail.
We hear the same handful of questions from Silchester customers before a first order: how many bags, which wood, and whether it's genuinely dry. The sections below, and the quick guide beneath them, answer all three honestly.
Four bags of kiln-dried Alder with kindling and firelighters. Our best price for a full log store.
Our seasonal special. Four bags of premium mixed hardwood with kindling and firelighters at an offer price.

For Silchester households without a wheelbarrow-friendly path, the lighter Easy Bag is usually the easier choice; otherwise the Barrow Bag holds more per bag.
Alder, Oak, Mixed hardwood and Hornbeam logs, cheaper per bag the more you order. Kindling from £7.50, WA Firelighters from £3.25 and Big K smokeless coal from £19.50 can be added to any firewood order for Silchester at checkout.
None of what follows is exclusive to Silchester; it's simply how the business runs everywhere it delivers. Still worth setting out before a first order.
Every batch is kiln-dried below 20% moisture and certified under the Woodsure Ready to Burn scheme, WS721, whichever bag ends up in Silchester. We test, we don't just assume, and the certificate is on public record.
Same yard, same founder, running the business day to day since 2016. We're not a reseller putting our name on somebody else's firewood.
Over 4,000 customers and counting, and every review is five stars with a real name attached; nothing hidden, nothing cherry-picked.
No couriers and no subcontractors for Silchester deliveries. The person who answers the phone usually knows the person driving the van that day, and can tell you where your order actually is.
"Used before and always very reliable great service. Pleasant and will barrow the bags to where you want them. No problem in using again."
Steven"Alex has been supplying my logs for several years now and his customer service is excellent. Logs are good ,burn well and are delivered at a time to suit. He even takes the trouble to put the bags close to the log store for me making it easy to stack them."
Susan T"Great company with excellent customer service. Great logs that burn well. Delivery service spot on. Highly recommend."
Fiona LittleAsk a neighbour in Tadley or Bramley whether they've used us. There's a decent chance they have; Silchester shares a delivery loop with both.
We grew the business one Hampshire town at a time, and Silchester has been part of that patch for long enough that it's simply routine now.
No minimum order size, no hidden delivery surprises, just kiln-dried wood delivered properly.
